Callander Classic Car Weekend - 25/26th August 2007
The Callander Classic Weekend show is normally one of the last events of the year in Scotland and we were determined to make it a good one. This year it has subsequently been announced was the last year it will be held at Ben Ledi Park in Callander. Next year's show will be held at Culzean Castle.
With the somewhat poor weather experienced this summer it was hoped that the weekend would at least be dry. Thankfully it was, with the added bonus of sunshine throughout the day, all set against the magnificent backdrop of the highlands.
Nine cars made it to the show site with a number of new members showing their cars for the first time and another member finally managing to get the engine back into his car after a “quick” rebuild (it only took 2½ years!!) and over to the show albeit via a trailer! The cars were displayed in two rows and again attracted a lot of attention.
Amongst the gathering of cars was the club tent harbouring those who were seeking shelter from the sun whilst eating freshly barbequed sausages and burgers!
The trophy for the best turned-out Marcos at the show was presented by last year’s winner Colin Nicol to Billy Lambie
for re-building his 1600 to an excellent standard after it was almost written off last year on his way to the annual rally.
Culzean Autoclassica Launch, Culzean Castle, Ayrshire - 21st - 23rd September 2007
The Culzean Autoclassica is an all new international event celebrating all forms of motoring heritage. The launch event was designed to give an insight into the aims and scope of an annual event that will make its debut in August 2008.
As part of the launch, a number of clubs were invited providing an interesting mix of vehicles from classic sports cars through to modern performance cars. As with the rest of the summer, the weather did its utmost to put a spanner in the works and as a consequence the event field became waterlogged and therefore unusable. Fortunately, an alternative location was found on the Culzean estate and the club display was located adjacent to the Deer Park with the cars parked on solid ground.
In addition to the club and single entrant displays, other special displays were on view adjacent to the Castle and in the Visitor Centre Courtyard where you could enjoy refreshments whilst listening to live music or watching a fashion show.
Six cars made it to the launch and an enjoyable time was had by all.
